The Église Notre-Dame de Bordeaux rises from the Place du Chapelet with a luminous façade of blond stone, defined by stacked columns, expressive reliefs, and broken pediments that mark it as a rare example of Jesuit baroque architecture in the region. Built between sixteen eighty-four and seventeen oh seven, the structure replaced an earlier Dominican convent that was demolished by order of Louis the Fourteenth following a revolt over salt taxes.
