The Kongresshalle in Nuremberg is a massive, horseshoe-shaped structure of granite and brick that looms over the landscape like a ruin of ancient Rome. Designed by architects Ludwig and Franz Ruff, this building was intended to serve as a colossal congress center for the Nazi Party, with a planned capacity of fifty thousand spectators under a single self-supporting roof.
