The Church of the Virgin Mary of the Akathist Hymn, locally known as Panagia Platsani, stands in the heart of Oia with a distinctive pyramid-shaped bell tower holding six bells. Its white, square exterior is topped by five domes, including one large blue dome that marks its place in the village square.
