The Fiumei Road Graveyard is defined by its fifty-six-hectare landscape that functions as a national pantheon for Hungary. Opened on April first, eighteen forty-nine, as a public cemetery for the city of Pest, it became the final resting place for the country's political, scientific, and artistic figures over the following century. The grounds contain one of the largest collections of funerary statues in Hungary, set within an arboretum-like space that houses ten species of trees and over one hundred bird species.
