The Mubarak Mahal, or Auspicious Palace, sits at the heart of a courtyard within the City Palace complex. Completed in nineteen hundred by Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh the Second, it was designed by the court architect Lala Chiman Lal as a reception center for visiting dignitaries who were not permitted into the royal inner court. The building features an identical facade on all four sides, with intricate carvings in white and beige stone that create an appearance of delicate, layered work.
