Beit Sokolov, also known as the Journalists House, stands on Kaplan Street as a monument to the man who gave Tel Aviv its name. Dedicated in nineteen fifty-seven, the building honors Nahum Sokolow, a journalist and president of the World Zionist Organization who coined the Hebrew term for the city—a combination of the words for a mound of ancient ruins and the season of spring.
