Burekas Penso occupies a storefront on Levinsky Street, recognizable by the scent of baked phyllo dough and the traditional Turkish pastries that have been produced here for over seventy years. Founded by the Penso family after they emigrated from Turkey in the nineteen forties, the shop began as a modest cart in the bustling Levinsky Market. It served as a destination for Balkan immigrants who gathered in the area to find flavors that reminded them of their former homes.
