Aharon Chelouche House

The Aharon Chelouche House is a stone structure standing on the street that bears the family name in the Neve Tzedek neighborhood. Built beginning in eighteen eighty-three, it was one of the first residential buildings constructed outside the old walls of Jaffa. Aharon Chelouche, an Algerian-born goldsmith and money changer, purchased this land when it was still a desolate area of sand dunes. He initially built a single-story home here, adding a second floor later to accommodate his expanding family.
