Sōun-ji is a Rinzai Zen temple defined by an atmospheric gate and a hillside setting in Yumoto. Established in fifteen twenty-one, it serves as the family temple for the Later Hōjō clan, who once ruled this region from nearby Odawara Castle. The temple was built by Hōjō Ujitsuna to honor his father, Hōjō Sōun, a military commander credited as the first of the Sengoku daimyo.
