Arashiyama Park viewpoint

Arashiyama Park stretches along the banks of the Oi River, identified by the steep, forested slopes of Arashiyama—or Storm Mountain—rising directly across the water. This area became a favored retreat for Heian-period aristocrats over a thousand years ago, who traveled from central Kyoto to observe the changing seasonal foliage. The landscape remains a nationally designated historic site and place of scenic beauty, defined by the view of the mountains, the river, and the iconic Togetsukyo Bridge.
