The Mediterranean Conference Centre occupies a vast limestone structure that edges the bastions of Valletta, overlooking the Grand Harbour. Built in fifteen seventy-four by the Order of Saint John, the site was originally the Sacra Infermeria, or Holy Infirmary. It functioned for centuries as one of the most advanced hospitals in Europe, designed to treat knights, pilgrims, and sailors regardless of their social status.
