The Edificio Basurto rises fourteen stories above Avenida México, identified by its bold, geometric facade and the stepped balconies that define its vertical silhouette. Completed in nineteen forty-five, the structure stands on what was once the garden of the private residence belonging to Raúl Basurto, a developer who played a major role in the creation of the Hipódromo neighborhood. Architect Francisco J. Serrano designed the building to anchor this intersection, moving away from traditional layouts by organizing the interior around a cross-shaped floor plan.
