Chapel of Santa Catarina

The Chapel of Santa Catarina sits along Francisco Sosa, distinguished by its bright yellow facade and the low, arcaded portico that stretches across its front. Built by the Franciscans in the early sixteenth century, the chapel originally functioned as an open-air site to serve the local indigenous population. The structure was later expanded during the seventeenth century, when a nave with a stone-vaulted roof was added to the existing space.
