Kiosko Morisco

The Kiosko Morisco is an octagonal iron pavilion defined by its slender columns, intricate latticework, and a central glass dome. Designed by Mexican engineer José Ramón Ibarrola, the structure was forged in Andrew Carnegie’s Pennsylvania foundry to represent Mexico at the eighteen eighty-four World's Fair in New Orleans. Its Neo-Mudéjar style, which draws inspiration from the Alhambra palace in Granada, Spain, earned it the nickname the Mexican Alhambra among nineteenth-century exhibition visitors.
