The Cine Opera stands on Serapio Rendón Street with a facade defined by two large stone sculptures, depicting the masks of comedy and tragedy, which flank a central window. Inaugurated in nineteen forty-nine, the theater was designed by architect Félix Téllez Nuncio with interiors by set designer Manuel Fontanals. It operated for decades as one of the most significant movie palaces of the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema, eventually housing three thousand eight hundred seats within its Art Deco walls.
