Mother's Monument

The Mother's Monument features three distinct sculptures arranged within an open, geometric plaza. You can identify the site by its central figure of a mother holding a child, flanked by an indigenous man writing and a woman holding an ear of corn. Designed by architect José Villagrán García with sculptures by artist Luis Ortiz Monasterio, the site was inaugurated on May tenth, nineteen forty-nine.
