La Privada Roja is a three-level property defined by its dense masonry of red bricks and more than four hundred pine doors and windows lacquered in bright vermilion. Constructed in nineteen oh seven in the San Rafael neighborhood, the building rests on sturdy stone and concrete footings reinforced with recycled railroad ties. Originally designed for the city's burgeoning middle class during the Porfiriato era, the structure served as the Italian embassy until nineteen twenty.
