Monument to the Fatherland

The Monumento a la Patria sits in a large traffic circle at the northern end of the Paseo de Montejo. You can recognize it by its massive, circular stone form, which rises fourteen meters high and measures forty meters in diameter. It is the only monument in the world carved entirely by hand directly from stone, featuring over three hundred figures that trace the history of Mexico from its pre-Hispanic roots to the mid-twentieth century.
