The Palacio Cantón is a grand, bright yellow mansion on the Paseo de Montejo, distinguished by its eclectic Beaux-Arts style and imposing scale. Built between nineteen oh four and nineteen eleven, the residence was commissioned by General Francisco Cantón Rosado, a former governor of Yucatán who made his fortune during the region’s henequen boom. The architect, Enrico Deserti, combined French Baroque, neoclassical, and Renaissance revival elements, while the interior features an ornate, white marble grand staircase.
