The Casas Gemelas stand out on Paseo de Montejo for their matching French neoclassical facades, which rise from their plots with a symmetry that suggests they are exact reflections of one another. Built between nineteen oh eight and nineteen eleven, these two mansions were commissioned by brothers Camilo and Ernesto Cámara Zavala. They hired French architect Gustave Umbdenstock to design the residences, aiming to import the refinement of Paris to the height of the Yucatecan henequen boom.
