Olimpo Cultural Center

The Olimpo Cultural Center on the Plaza Grande is defined by its striking, contemporary geometry of cylinders and cubes, which creates a sharp contrast against the surrounding colonial buildings. Inhabiting the western side of the square, this modern structure opened in nineteen ninety-nine to commemorate the city's founding anniversary. It stands on the site of a previous building, also known as the Olimpo, which had been a landmark in its own right for much of the early twentieth century.
