Bab Ksiba

Bab Ksiba is identified by the large, ancient eucalyptus tree standing to one side of its stone archway. While many of the nineteen gates of Marrakesh are grander in scale, this entrance to the southern end of the royal Kasbah is distinguished by its relative simplicity and its role as a smaller, functional fortified passage. The name itself translates from Berber as Little Fort, reflecting its original purpose as part of a defense system for the sultan’s citadel.
