El Badi Palace is defined by its massive, empty enclosure of golden-hued rammed-earth walls, rising high above the ground and topped with the large, untidy nests of storks. Commissioned in fifteen seventy-eight by the Saadian Sultan Ahmed al-Mansur, the structure was originally conceived to celebrate his victory at the Battle of the Three Kings. The name El Badi translates to the Incomparable, a title reflecting the sultan's ambition to create a space that rivaled the grandest courts of his time.
