1 Souk des teinturiers

Skeins of freshly dyed wool hang to dry above the narrow lanes of Souk Sebbaghine, creating an overhead canopy of vibrant reds, saffron yellows, and indigo blues. Known to international visitors as the Souk des Teinturiers, this quarter of the Marrakech medina serves as the traditional home for the city’s textile dyers. The trade practiced here traces its roots back to Fez, and for generations, craftsmen have used steaming vats and natural pigments to treat wool, silk, and thread.
