Hammam Mouassine

Hammam Mouassine is identified by an unassuming, humble doorway that offers little hint of the sixteen-century architecture found within. Built between fifteen sixty-two and fifteen sixty-three under the orders of the Saadian Sultan Abdellah al Ghâlib, it stands as one of the oldest and most traditional public bathhouses in Marrakesh. The hammam was originally designed as a central element of a larger religious and charitable complex, which also included a mosque, a madrasa, and the nearby Mouassine Fountain.
