Moulay al-Yazid Mosque (Kasbah Mosque)

The Moulay al-Yazid Mosque, often called the Kasbah Mosque, is distinguished by the soaring minaret at its northwestern corner, which features a frieze of intricate green and white zellige tilework near its summit. Built between eleven eighty-five and eleven ninety by the Almohad Caliph Yaqub al-Mansur, the structure served as the primary congregational mosque for the royal citadel of the Kasbah. It was designed to function alongside the palace district, providing a dedicated space for the caliph and his court to attend prayers.
