Fuente de Mouassine

The Mouassine Fountain is a wide, rectangular structure spanning over eighteen meters, identifiable by its row of three arched bays sheltered beneath a green-tiled roof and carved cedar wood lintels. Built between fifteen sixty-two and fifteen seventy-three, it remains one of the largest and most historic public fountains in the medina of Marrakesh. It was commissioned by the Saadian sultan Abdallah al-Ghalib as a vital component of a larger religious complex that included a mosque, a hammam, and a library, all constructed on land formerly used as a Jewish cemetery.
