The bronze figure of a woman sitting on a stack of cushions rests in the Queenstown Gardens, near the shores of Lake Wakatipu. This sculpture, created by artist Elizabeth Hall, is known simply as Fleur. While the name is synonymous with the renowned restaurateur Fleur Sullivan and her famous seafood destination in Moeraki, this site is a different entity entirely. Here, the sculpture is a quiet, static presence amidst the trees and walking paths of the public park. It remains a fixture of the gardens, distinct from the culinary history of the Otago region.
