Daru Lane, or Daru Alley, is a historic street within the Pingjiang Historic District, home to traditional white-walled, black-tiled residences that define the classic architecture of old Suzhou. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, many scholars and high-ranking officials chose this lane for their private mansions, establishing a legacy of scholarly life that persists in the area's preserved layout.
