The Square Market

The Square Market, or Sifang Street, is the center of Lijiang Old Town, identified by its rectangular shape and pavement made of colorful bluestones that radiate into four main streets. Built during the Ming Dynasty, the market served as an essential junction for the Ancient Tea Horse Road, a network of trails where merchants gathered for centuries to trade goods between Tibet, Dali, and the surrounding regions.
