The Post Office building at number one Krasińskiego Street is defined by its eleven-story tower, which rises above the surrounding neighborhood as the first skyscraper built in Wrocław. Completed in nineteen twenty-nine after three years of construction, the massive structure was designed by architect Lothar Neumann in the style of North German Brick Expressionism. It stands on what was once a military cemetery, its foundation secured by seventeen hundred concrete piles driven deep into the soft ground to support its long, hundred and forty-two-meter body.
