Plac Solny

Plac Solny is defined by a cluster of flower stalls that operate day and night in the center of the square, creating a persistent, vibrant patch of color against the surrounding architecture. Established in twelve forty-two as an auxiliary market for salt, honey, and hides, it was designed shortly after the Mongol invasion as part of the city’s reconstruction. The square is lined with restored townhouses, many of which assumed a neo-Baroque appearance during a major rebuilding effort in nineteen sixty and nineteen sixty-one.
