The Venerable Patriarchal Church of St. George is a three-aisled basilica set within the walled complex of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in the Fener district. It features a modest exterior of stone walls and a gilded, intricately carved iconostasis that dominates the interior space. Since moving to this site around the year sixteen hundred, it has acted as the spiritual seat of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.
