The Golden Hinde

The Golden Hinde is a full-size wooden replica of the sixteenth-century English galleon that Sir Francis Drake captained during his circumnavigation of the globe between fifteen seventy-seven and fifteen eighty. You can distinguish the vessel by its high, multi-decked silhouette and the three masts characteristic of a late Tudor-era warship. While the original ship famously became the world's first museum vessel after Drake returned to England with a massive haul of Spanish treasure, it eventually rotted away in a Deptford shipyard.
