Forty-one to forty-three Neal Street sits in a row of buildings that once served as warehouses for the nearby Covent Garden vegetable market. In December nineteen seventy-six, this address became home to the Roxy, a basement club that functioned as an early incubator for the British punk scene. Founders Andrew Czezowski, Susan Carrington, and Barry Jones converted the former market space and, facing rejection from the mainstream music industry, opened the doors to promote a genre that had few other homes.
