Museum Tavern

The Museum Tavern is a four-story building in a modified French Renaissance style, characterized by its stucco exterior and a ground floor featuring Corinthian pilasters. Located at forty-nine Great Russell Street, this structure is a mid-nineteenth-century rebuilding designed by the architect William Finch Hill. The establishment traces its origins to seventeen twenty-three, when it opened as the Dog and Duck, a name inspired by the hunting of waterfowl in the ponds that then occupied the surrounding area.
