The Peace Wall is a barrier of brick, iron, and steel that stretches through West Belfast, separating the unionist Shankill area from the nationalist Falls Road. Rising up to twenty-six feet in height, it creates a physical divide through residential streets, marked by metal gates that were once used as security checkpoints. Many of these gates remain in place and continue to be locked at night to control movement between the communities.
