The Crown Liquor Saloon on Great Victoria Street stands out for its elaborate polychromatic tiled façade and a recessed porch, where the floor mosaic famously features a crown. This historic landmark began as the Railway Tavern in eighteen twenty-six but gained its current, ornate appearance during a renovation in eighteen eighty-five. Patrick Flanagan, who owned the pub, recruited Italian artisans to work on the interior after their shifts building local churches. Their influence remains visible in the intricate stained glass, carved woodwork, and mosaic designs that define the space.
