Albert Bridge

The Albert Bridge crosses the River Lagan with three distinct, flat iron arches. This structure stands on the site of an earlier masonry bridge, which locals once called the Halfpenny Bridge because of the toll it collected. That earlier crossing belonged to a private company until the city corporation acquired it in eighteen sixty and ended the toll.
