The Tropical Ravine is a long, red-brick building situated within the Belfast Botanic Gardens. It is uniquely constructed as a sunken glen, designed to create a protected micro-climate for a collection of ferns, orchids, and tropical plants. Originally opened in eighteen eighty-nine, the building sits on the site of former propagation houses and is the only structure of its kind in Europe.
