Clifton Street Graveyard is defined by the high, protective walls that were originally built to stop bodysnatchers from stealing the recently deceased. Established in seventeen ninety-seven by the Belfast Charitable Society, the grounds contain both elaborate Victorian mausoleums and a large, unmarked plot where thousands of people who could not afford private graves were buried.
