Donegall Square East forms one side of the grand civic plaza at the center of Belfast, dominated by the Portland stone bulk of City Hall. While the square today functions as the city's commercial and financial hub, this eastern side retains a rare physical link to the area's earliest development. Tucked among larger office blocks, the three-story townhouses at numbers eighteen and nineteen stand as the final survivors of a Georgian residential terrace built around eighteen thirty.
