The Annesley Street Synagogue is identifiable by its distinctive round-arched style, a brick and stucco building that served as the home for the Belfast Jewish community for over sixty years. Completed in nineteen oh four, it stands as the oldest purpose-built synagogue in Northern Ireland. Sir Otto Jaffe, a prominent linen merchant who served as Lord Mayor of Belfast, provided the funds for its construction, and his wife, Lady Jaffe, laid the foundation stone.
