E.W.F Stirrup House

The E.W.F. Stirrup House is a two-story wood-frame residence with narrow proportions and an L-shaped floor plan, constructed from Dade County slash pine. Built in eighteen ninety-seven, the structure sits as one of the few remaining late nineteenth-century homes of its kind in Miami-Dade County. Its distinctive architecture reflects the Bahamian heritage of the area’s early pioneers, who brought with them specific techniques for using local limestone and wood in residential construction.
