Mariah Brown House

The Mariah Brown House is a one-and-one-half-story wooden structure defined by its broad front porch and a design intended to catch cross-breezes in the humid climate. Built in eighteen ninety, the house stands as one of the oldest residences in the area and is recognized as the first home constructed and owned by a Black family in what would later become Miami-Dade County. It reflects the Frame Vernacular style brought to the region by Bahamian immigrants, featuring clapboard siding and a low-sloped roof built from native Dade County pine.
