The Walter Grinnan Robinson House at fourteen fifteen Third Street is recognizable by the unique curve of its two-story galleries and the fluted columns that support them. Designed in the Italianate style, the mansion features Doric columns on the ground level and Corinthian columns above, creating a distinct silhouette against the Garden District skyline. Completed in eighteen sixty-seven, the residence was built for Walter Grinnan Robinson, a merchant from Lynchburg, Virginia, who traded in cotton and perique tobacco.
