Trinity Church

Trinity Church occupies a distinct place in Copley Square, defined by a massive, central square tower and heavy, rounded arches built of rough-faced granite and red sandstone. This structure is the third home of an Episcopal parish founded in seventeen thirty-three. After the congregation’s previous building burned in the Great Boston Fire of eighteen seventy-two, the rector, Phillips Brooks, commissioned architect Henry Hobson Richardson to create a new space on this site in the recently filled Back Bay.
