The Mapparium is a three-story-tall globe constructed from six hundred and eight stained-glass panels. It sits inside the Christian Science Publishing Society building, where visitors walk across a thirty-foot-long glass bridge that spans the interior of the sphere. Built in nineteen thirty-five, the globe features a concave, mirror-image map that displays the world’s political boundaries exactly as they existed when the panels were fired in a kiln.
