Boston Tea Party Marker

On December sixteenth, seventeen seventy-three, a group of colonists boarded the ships Dartmouth, Eleanor, and Beaver at Griffin’s Wharf to protest taxation without representation. They broke open three hundred and forty-two chests of East India Company tea and heaved the contents into the harbor. This act of resistance against the Tea Act of seventeen seventy-three challenged British commercial authority and accelerated the path toward open war.
