National Centre of Indigenous Excellence

The National Centre of Indigenous Excellence stands on George Street in Redfern on the site of the former Redfern Public School, which operated for over a century beginning in eighteen seventy-nine. Heritage-listed Victorian Romanesque buildings from the old school remain on the premises and have been incorporated into the design of the modern complex. Today, two grass trees placed near the main entrance serve as markers for a landscape palette that features bush tucker plants from across Australia.
